Rare 18K gold and Ruby ring called Leda by Georges Braque (1882-1963), inventor of cubism.

It is Signed 'B DE B' For Bijoux de Braque and 'H DE L' for Heger de Loewenfeld, jeweler of Bijoux de Braque (Picture 4)

It is numbered LP3031 for the fabrication book reference and 03, which mean it was 3 in the edition of 8.

This ring comes from the personal collection of Heger de Loewenfeld and is part of the early pieces of Bijoux de Braque, manufactured during the 1960's.

The bird theme is a classical Braque theme and the gouache where figures 'Leda' among others rings of "Bijoux de Braque" is reproduced on photo 6.

 

"Bijoux de Braque" is a project of the famous french painter Braque, who designed jewelry in the last three years of his life, from 1960 to 1963. All items of this collection are made after Braque major career works he has chosen to be transposed in jewels and precious sculptures with the help of a Stonecutter, Heger de Loewenfeld. The project ended up as an exhibition at the "palais du Louvre" from march to may 1963 (Photo  and 7 and 8)

There are approximatively 100 gouaches, listed in the book "Les Metamorphoses de Braque" by Heger de Loewenfeld and Raphael de Cuttoli. All subjects are renamed after Greek Mythology characters.
